The goal of the game is to put someone in checkmate. There are many ways to do that using good strategy. One really good strategy is to advance all your pieces out as quickly as possible. This means get all your pieces out into battle all at once and try not to move a piece more than two times until most of your pieces are in the battle.

Another good strategy for your first move is moving the pawn in front of your king out two spaces. This allows you to move out your queen and bishops and it also allows you to take over the middle four squares.

A good strategy for the end game is to use your two castles to basically make a prison for the other king while you setup for check mate.
